How now spirit, wither wander you?
Just the other day I was thinking of Thoreau's last name and wondering which was most appropriate. Thanks. :)
Ack, I've been butchering some of these until now :P The only ones I got right were Groening and Thoreau. Great resource, thanks!
Very useful list, thanks for posting it. The number of people at work who ask for Jodi Pick-cult books is astonishing (or not). But then, there were several here I needed educating on too.
Thanks for posting this! I have been guilty of pronouncing some of these incorrectly. oops!
I liked this so much I posted about it, and linked back to you too :)
Ouch! I've been terrible with these. It reminds me of Bjork. Apparently it correctly rhymes with "work," not "fork." But I still say it the first way. Say "Byerk" and you get funny looks.
That made me laugh.I do something very strange and pronounce the "s" in Barthes, which is most unusual for a French speaker! I guess I've been in Ireland too long...
smellincoffee, probably it's because I took French up until my first year of university, but I didn't even think there was another way to say Thoreau's name.Teacher, glad you like it, I think it's brilliant.Katie, it's a great reference, even if you have most of them right.Rachel, thanks for the link!John, hahaha! That's so true. I don't think I've ever heard someone say, "Byerk".Em, that is strange. But we do pick up the habits of the places we live.
